The Debug HL7 CDC Export page displays the data per CDC specifications. This option is available for investigations associated with a condition that uses a supported CDC export transport.
To view HL7 CDC exports, select the Debug HL7 CDC Export option from
the drop-down arrow button () on the
Case Reporting tab page. The pop-up window opens with the list of values
exported to the CDC. The list can be sorted by clicking on a column header.
The number of items displayed in the list is displayed (for example, Showing 1 to 10 of 93 entries)
and on the right side of that line are page number buttons; click a page
number, Next or Last
buttons as needed to display additional items in the list.
The available fields, options, buttons, and columns on the pop-up window are as follows:
Field/Option/Button/Column | Description |
Show/Hide | Click this button to select/deselect the fields to be displayed on the page. |
Show ___ entries | Select from the drop-down list the number of entries to display on the page: All, 10, 15, 20, 25. |
View Hl7 | Click this button to view the actual generated HL7 message for the investigation. |
Export Hl7 | Click this button to save the HL7 message as a TXT file. |
Search | Enter the first few characters of the search name to narrow the listed results. |

Click this button to expand the row to view the details of the conversion. This button displays when the Conversion field has a value. |
Phin's Code | The PHIN variable ID for each data element as defined in the CDC requirements. |
Phin's Definition | The short name for each data element. |
Segment | The location of where the value is going to be included in the HL7 message. |
Source & Value Definition | The source from where Sentinel is retrieving the value. For example, it can either be a static value, a STC configuration value, or a database value. |
Value | The actual Sentinel value. |
Conversion | Conversion if any. If this is a drop-down conversion, the

HL7 Value | The actual value to be included in the HL7 message. |
