Comorbidity Search Tab

If Sentinel is integrated with IWeb and/or PRISM, the Comorbidity Search tab appears on the Case Details page. The Comorbidity Search tab allows users to perform a search for cases based on an individual's first name, last name, and birthdate. The search results display a list of potential infection cases, but these cases may or may not be associated with the individual.

To perform this search, first search for the case and/or locate it in the case list on the main Investigations tab page, then click the View icon (View Investigation ID icon) or Edit icon (Edit Investigation ID icon) for the case. The Case Reporting tab page opens. Click the Comorbidity Search tab to display the search results. To print the comorbidity search tab results, click the Print button.

The Debug HL7 button is displayed on the Comorbidity Search tab page only when users have the Debug Mode permission granted in the Administrative Debug Permissions section. Click the Debug HL7 button to view the HL7 query that was sent to the IIS to search for the patient. If a patient is found in the IIS and displayed on the page, the Debug button appears in the HL7 column. Click the Debug button to view the HL7 query that was sent to the IIS to find the list of vaccines administered to the patient. If you want to use this feature, contact STC.

The Comorbidity Search tab searches the following applications for potential infection cases:

Administrative users can test to see if Sentinel is integrated with IWeb and PRISM by following these steps.

To test for integration with just IWeb:

  1. Log in to Sentinel.
  2. View or edit a case for a patient with the same name and date of birth who is also a patient in the IWeb system.
  3. Go to the Case Reporting tab page and select the Vaccination Records option from the Action menu (Action menu).
  4. Verify that the patient is displayed with the correct vaccine.
  5. View or edit a case for a patient with the same name and date of birth who is also a patient in the IWeb system. Also make sure that this case has a CDC form.
  6. Go to the Case Reporting tab and click the CDC Form tab, then click the Vaccination Records button.

If records display for the patient, Sentinel is correctly integrated with IWeb.

To test for integration with both IWeb and PRISM:

  1. Execute the previous tests.
  2. Verify that the patient is displayed with the correct vaccines.
  3. Edit a case for a patient who is on both PRISM and IWeb. Make sure that the patient has episodes in PRISM and vaccination records in IWeb.
  4. Go to the Comorbidity Search tab and verify that there is at least one Sentinel record (with one case), one IWeb patient record with vaccinations and one PRISM patient record.
  5. Verify that the PRISM patient record includes all episodes that are in PRISM.
  6. Verify that the IWeb patient record includes all vaccines that are in IWeb.

If records display for the patient (and both IWeb and PRISM display sections on the page), Sentinel is correctly integrated with both IWeb and PRISM.
