Action Items

This page is visible to both State and Provider users and displays information for the selected organization/facility in the search bar.

The Action Items link in the iQ menu opens the Action Items List page. The Action Items List is a report of patient records that have errors or warnings. These are actionable items outlining the tasks that need to be completed to improve data quality. Patient records that contain HL7 data errors and warnings are included in the list. The action items can be organized by using the following filters:

After selecting one or more filters, click the Filter button to view the list of action items that meet the filter criteria.

The filters and icons available in the filter section are as follows:

Filter/Icon Description

Pre-Production / Production filter

If the iQ application is being used in pre-production, select Pre-Production from the drop-down list. Otherwise, if the iQ application has moved to production, select Production. The data that is retrieved and displayed on this page depends on whether or not the application is "live" (in Production) or not (Pre-Production).

Filter icon

If the filter section is hidden, click the gray Filter iconFilter iconto open it. The Filter icon turns blueFilter icon (open)when the filter section on the page is open. Click the blue Filter icon to hide the filter section again.

Filter by

Select one of the options to filter the action items by:

  • Error

  • Warning

  • All (both errors and warnings)

Due / Completed

Toggle the slider to select action items that are Due or ones that have been Completed.

Date Range

Enter a date range: Either click in the date fields and manually enter From and Through dates, or click the calendar icons and manually select the From and Through dates for the date range.

Time Range

Enter the time range: Click in the Start and End fields and select the times.

Search icon

After changing the filters, click the Search icon Search icon  to retrieve a list of action items that meet the new filter criteria.

Search (field)

To search for a patient name or medical record number (MRN), click in the search field (click on the line) and enter the first few characters or numbers. The list automatically filters down to display only the action items that contain the search term. To cancel the search filter, delete the text from the Search field.

The columns shown in the search results section are as follows:

Column Description

Patient

The patient name and medical record number (MRN) are displayed as a header, along with a Marked as Fixed checkbox.

Marked as Fixed

Select this checkbox to mark the errors/warnings as fixed.

HL7 Field

The HL7 field that contains the error or warning.

Issue

The exact error or warning issue.

Type

The item type: Error or Warning.

Recommendation

If an action recommendation is available, it displays here.

Date/Time

The date and time when the error/warning was triggered from the submitted message.

(Page Numbers)

If there a multiple pages, click a page number to move between them.

Using the information in the Action Items List, users can go into the records in the IIS and correct the errors. To mark an item on the Action Items List as completed (fixed) and remove it from the list, select the checkbox for the patient. After an action item is marked as fixed, it is added to the Completed list and can be located by toggling the Due/Completed slider to Completed (and entering the correct date range).
