Users with the Create, Modify, and Delete System Messages administrative permission can create and edit messages for users with different user roles from the Messages page. To open the page, click the System Administration > Message Management menu link. After creating a message, the message appears to users with the selected roles when they log in on or after the selected start date, as long as they log in on or before the end date.
The columns and options on the Messages page are as follows:
Column/Option | Description |
New Message | Click this button to create a new message. See Create a New Message. |
Search | To search for a specific message in a long list of messages, enter a few characters of the message subject or body. The list narrows to display only the messages containing the characters in the search field. |
Message | The subject and body of the message. |
Display between | The from and through dates for the message to display to users. |
Edit | Click this button to edit the message. See Edit a Message. |
Delete | Click this button to delete the message. See Delete a Message. |
To create a new message, first click the System Administration > Message Management menu link, then click the New Message button on the Messages page. The Edit Message page opens. Enter the information and click Save. Click Cancel to return to the Messages page without saving any changes.
The available fields and options on the Edit Message page are as follows:
Field/Option | Description |
Start Date | The start date for the message. The default is the current date. This field is required. |
End Date | If the message is to end on a specific day, enter the ending date. (Click in the field and select the date from the calendar that opens.) |
Roles | Select the roles for all of the user access types that need to see the message. Hold down the Ctrl key and click a role to add multiple roles. |
Message | Enter the text for the body of the message. |
To edit a message, first click the System Administration > Message Management menu link, then locate the message in the list on the Messages page. Click the Edit button for that message. The Edit Message page opens with the details for that message. Make any necessary changes and click Save. Click Cancel to return to the Messages page without saving any changes.
