Lab Observation Mapping Management

Users with the Manage Lab Mappings permission can manage observation mapping and specimen mapping. The Lab Observation Mapping Management page displays the test code system, test code, test description, result code system, result code and description, disease name, LOINC test code, and SNOMED result code mappings.

The lab observation mapping versioning feature can be enabled only after the migration from the Sentinel 5.17.2 version to Sentinel 5.17.5 version. Once the versioning feature is enabled, you cannot go back to the previous version of Sentinel.

To configure lab observation mappings, click the ELR - CDC Reporting > Lab Observation Mapping Management menu link. The Lab Observation Mapping Management page opens. Select a mapping name from the Select a Mapping to Edit drop-down list. The information for the mapping displays on the page and the versions that are available for the mapping table appears in the Version drop-down list (located on the right side of the selected mapping). You can create a new mapping version by copying an existing version. The version numbers cannot be skipped or repeated; they should be in sequence. You can set any version as the primary version of the mapping. The primary version is the version that is used in the facility management for lab observation mapping. The list can be sorted by clicking on the column header. Under the list of current mappings, the number of mappings displayed on the page is listed (for example, Showing 1 to 2 of 2 entries) and on the right side of that line are previous and forward arrows; click the arrows as needed to display additional mappings.

To add a new mapping table, click the New Mapping Table button on the Lab Observation Mapping Management page. See the Add a New Mapping Table section below for more information.

To add a new entry, either click the New Entry button or select Import Mapping Table from the drop-down arrow button, depending on your method of adding information. See the Add/Import New Entry section below for more information.

The following actions can be performed from the drop-down arrow button (Drop-down arrow button):

Add a New Mapping Table

To add a new mapping table, first select ELR - CDC Reporting > Lab Observation Mapping Management from the menu, then click the New Mapping Table button on the Lab Observation Mapping Management page. The New Mapping Table pop-up window opens. Enter at least the required fields (in red text) and click Add. To cancel without saving any changes, click Cancel.

The fields and options on the New Mapping Table pop-up window are as follows:

Mapping Name Enter the name of the new mapping. This field is required.
Import mappings from (Optional) Select the mapping name you want to import from the drop-down list.

Add/Import New Entry

There are two ways to add one or more lab observation mapping entries to the application. The first is to add them manually; the second is to import a file containing lab observation information. For either method, go to the Lab Observation Mapping Management page by selecting ELR - CDC Reporting > Lab Observation Mapping Management from the menu, then selecting a mapping name from the Select a Mapping to Edit drop-down list.

Manually Add a New Entry

To manually add a new lab observation mapping entry, select ELR - CDC Reporting > Lab Observation Mapping Management from the menu, select a mapping name from the Select a Mapping to Edit drop-down list, and then click the New Entry button on the Lab Observation Mapping Management page.
