Users with the Import Outbreak Events permission can import the core data of an outbreak event form from a CSV file. Once the outbreak event is created, you can add or edit the information by clicking the Edit icon for the outbreak event on the main Outbreak Events tab page. See Edit an Outbreak Event.
To import an outbreak event:
To download an outbreak event template, either select the Download Import Template option from the Action menu or click on the download a template here link on the Import Outbreak Events for [Outbreak Name] Outbreak Events pop-up window. The template of the outbreak event selected is downloaded as a CSV file. Enter all the required outbreak event information in the CSV file, save the file, and then upload the file. The new outbreak event is created and displayed in the outbreak events list.
The CSV file can contain one or more of the following core data information depending on the fields available in the selected custom outbreak event form:
|
|
For example, if the custom form contains these core data fields: Last Name, First Name, Date of Birth, and any custom form element, the downloaded import template contains all the core data fields that are present in the selected outbreak event form.
If you do not enter any required field data in the CSV file and try to upload the file, the upload fails and displays an error. You can add additional column headers to the CSV file, but the warning is displayed with the name of the column not imported from the file. You must follow these instructions when entering the data for the CSV file:
To upload a file, click the Upload a file button on the Import Outbreak Events for [Outbreak Name] Outbreak Events pop-up window. Either select the file from the location or drag and drop the CSV file onto the Upload a file button. The file name is displayed in green on the Import Outbreak Events for [Outbreak Event Name] pop-up window with the successful import confirmation message. Click the X button to close the pop-up window and return to the selected Outbreak Events List page. If you upload an empty CSV file, the file name is displayed in green on the Import Outbreak Events for [Outbreak Name] Outbreak Events pop-up window with a successful import confirmation message and a warning for the unrecognized columns.
To export the list of all active and inactive outbreak events, click the Export button on the Outbreak Events tab. The Outbreak Event Export pop-up window opens. Select one or more outbreak event forms to include and click Export. To cancel without exporting the information, click Cancel.
