Case Management Workflow

The following is a typical case management workflow with the Peri HepB application:

  1. User is notified of a HepB-positive pregnant woman.
  2. User logs in to the Perinatal Hepatitis B Case Manager application. (See Getting Started.)
  3. User performs a Case Search for the pregnant woman.
    1. If no search results appear for the pregnant woman, user adds a new mother case (see Create a New Case).
    2. If the mother's case already exists, user verifies or updates information and adds a new pregnancy (see Manage Mother Cases).
  4. User adds an Activity Tracker in the Mother's Gestational History section of the mother's case.
  5. When performing follow-up on the mother, user updates the Activities Checklist (see Activity Tracker).
  6. User runs the EDD Action Report to see which mothers need follow-up. (User can access the Activity Tracker here, too.)
  7. Mother gives birth to infant.
  8. User adds the Infant case (see Create a New Case) and associates the case with the mother's case. Note that the Mother's Gestational History section has been updated with the Infant case information (see Manage Mother Cases).
  9. If necessary, user adds a new contact case (see Create a New Case) and associates it with the mother's and infant's cases.
  10. User updates the Activity Tracker as needed, accessing it from either the Mother's Gestational History section or the infant's case page. Note that the Activity Tracker now lists activities for follow-up with the infant.
  11. User runs a Case Action Report to see which infants need follow-up for services. (User can access the Activity Tracker from here, too.)
  12. User continues to update the Activity Tracker as needed when following up with the infant.
  13. User closes (inactivates) the infant's case when infant follow-up is complete (see Manage Infant Cases).
  14. If mother becomes pregnant again, user repeats these steps.
